The ice forms s a barrier and melted water accumulates behind this ice dam. Pooled water behind the dam my leak into the building, causing water damage, or climb over the ice-filled, butter, forming icicles.

With its self-regulating heating cable, the systems provide a continuous drain path for melting ice and snow. from the roof through the gutter and downspout. *Heat tape should not be used over the thermal insulation or near flammable materials.
*Check heat tapes at least once a year, paying particular attention to older tape which may develop cracks in the insulation.
